- I had been doing takeoffs and estimates on a
part-time basis over the years, for a couple of companies that came to
me for help. I found a substantial need for this in the current
market, so in late 2011 I decided to do this full-time. I do full
estimates/takeoffs and have also added bid solicitation, plan reviews,
budget reviews, and field walks for companies. I doubled my business
every year for the past six years. In April of 2012, I was contacted
by a company that needed help setting up a P&E Dept. since they
were growing so fast. I still do work for a few companies on a
continuing basis part-time.

reducing the budget for framing

- When I arrived at Newmark Homes and was asked
to take over the Estimating Dept. the margin drift was roughly
4% off. This reflects the margin drift being at 4% variance of GP
(gross profit) from contract acceptance to closing. This was in August
2004
- Under my management of the Estimating Dept. and
by revamping the entire processes in Supply Management, by the end of 2005, the margin
drift was down to 2%
- By the end of 2006, the margin drift was down
to within ½%

redlines/plan changes for Dallas/Ft. Worth

would have put them much lower for the year (they were on pace to do
less than 250 units for the
